Graphic Era University, based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, was founded in 1993. The Institute was granted Deemed University status in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, via Notification F.9-48/2007-U.3 (A) dated August 14, 2008, and authorised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Graphic Era University was certified by NAAC with an "A" rating in 2015.

Through student exchange and information sharing programmes with many foreign institutions, the university has acquired global dimensions, and it has been lauded and awarded at worldwide forums for its brilliance in sustaining the highest educational standards. Graphic Era University is breaking new ground in education, having received recognition from major organisations. It has taken a significant step forward in engineering programmes by forming partnerships with Tata Technologies and IBM to develop next-generation engineering professionals through industry collaborations. Graphic Era is home to the Technology Business Incubator, which promotes technology-based businesses. At the moment, Graphic Era has a large number of students pursuing education in a variety of fields spanning from engineering, science, business, management, commerce, hospitality, and the humanities and social sciences. Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) has been awarded All-India NIRF Rank 75 in the Engineering Category in the MHRD NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings in September 2021, making it the highest-ranked engineering university in Uttarakhand, after IIT Roorkee, in the MHRD NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings.GEU has also received All India Rank 98 in the Institution Category and All India Rank 64 in the Management Category, making it the highest-ranked university in Uttarakhand among all government and private universities in the state.

Graphic Era University Facilities:

• Library- The university library includes a variety of technical books, journals, video films, magazines, and other national and international publications. The institute's digital library also provides students with access to over 1200 national and international periodicals, as well as countless publications. The seating capacity is around 300.
• Hostel- The university includes separate hostels for girls and boys. The hostels are located on the university's campus. The hostels have a capacity of around 800 students.
• Conference Hall- The university features four meeting halls, each with air conditioning, adjustable lighting, an audio-video facility, muted air conditioning, LCD projectors, and a "U" shaped seating capacity for audiences.
• Guest House- The university has its own guest home. It contains 12 AC and non-AC rooms on the interior. The guest home is located on campus.

Graphic Era University Admissions:

The Entrance test is used for admission to the university. The exam varies by degree, and applicants are shortlisted based on their performance in different entrance exams.

• Admission to B. Tech programmes is based on 10+2 or JEE Main scores.
• Admission to the Ph.D. programme is based on GATE/ NET/ SLET results or a written exam followed by an interview.
• Candidates can apply for admission both online and offline.
• Admission to GEU's B.Tech programmes is based on merit calculated using the percentage of 10+2 level and JEE Main Score.
• Admission to MBA programmes is based on CAT/ MAT/ XAT scores, which are then followed by a group discussion and a personal interview.
• GATE scores are also used to determine M.Tech admittance.

• Graphic Era Group of Institutions has been resolute in their stance that higher education is not a luxury — it is a need – since its establishment. Quality higher education is a fundamental human right for all members of society. The institution believes in showing gratitude and paying homage to the nation's honoured military professionals for their infinite sacrifices and efforts to keep us citizens safe and secure. As a result, all wards of defence personnel receive a 5% scholarship every semester.
• To encourage female candidates to continue higher education and achieve their goals without financial stress, the University provides a 10% scholarship to each girl child on the net tuition charge of their course.
